Our Mission Statement: "As members of St. Irenaeus Health Ministry, we are an educational and support network collaborating with community resources to promote and encourage health of Body, Mind and Spirit for the entire parish and the community-at-large." Summary of our Ministries: Bereavement Support: Assure all parishioners have the opportunity to receive spiritual support at the time of the death of a loved one. Assist clergy and family to assure a smooth and caring transition throughout the services from vigil to graveside. Assist & provide direction/guidance to the family before and during the services. Care Facilities: Anaheim Terrace, Karlton Care Center, Knott Avenue Care Center and Knott Avenue Residential Manor. Assist in developing a relationship with the residents by sharing Prayer, Eucharist and Friendship by fostering a sense of belonging to the Parish Community. Giving Tree: Outreach project for our parishioners unable to attend Mass. Assist with the various duties involved in the Giving Tree project at Christmas season. Including sorting of gifts, wrapping, delivering to care centers distributing to patients, etc. Homebound Visitation: Assure all homebound parishioners have the opportunity to receive communion and hear the gospel on a regular basis. Parish Nurse: Serves as integrator of faith and healing and is liaison between members of the congregation and community agencies when needed. Serves as resource person and promotes an understanding of the relationship between lifestyles, attitudes, faith and well being through education sources. La Palma Hospital: Assure all Catholic hospitalized patients have the opportunity to receive communion, the Gospel and comfort on a regular basis. Visit all patients who request support and comfort. Helping Hands: Outreach program proving transportation, meals and other crisis support to those in need during difficult life situations. Shawl Ministry: Provide a hand knitted shawl that was made while saying prayers. Our grieving parishioners are wrapped in prayer to comfort them.
